Burnside Farms’ summer sunflower season is one of the most iconic flower experiences in the region. Each year, we plant more than 30 varieties of cutting sunflowers and several varieties of oil sunflowers across more than 78 acres in successive crops, creating weeks of breathtaking blooms and unforgettable photo-worthy views.
This is summer at Burnside.
Just 40 miles west of Washington, DC, our sunflower fields are designed for wandering, cutting your own bouquet, and soaking in the beauty of the season from sunrise to sunset.
Our sunflower season typically lasts at least four weeks, but bloom timing varies with the weather. For the most up-to-date opening information and field conditions, check today’s Field Report.

Sunflower Mazes
One of our four-acre sunflower mazes. We plant three mazes each summer!
We also plant beautiful sunflower mazes! In 2025, we will have at least two sunflower mazes. Each maze blooms for approximately ten days, so we should have at least one maze in bloom each week of the summer season this year! Check our Facebook or Instagram page during the summer for more information on our sunflower mazes.
Our trademark Sunflower Sunsets - evenings in the sunflower fields are not to be missed!
